Brand new 727 no movement engine stalls

Hello All,

I have a new 727 trans with a gear vendors overdrive, 9.5" converter, 3.5 extra quart deep pan and a large trans cooler with s.s. braided lines running from the trans to it. I am finishing up my engine swap and started the car after putting 6 quarts of fluid in the trans and 1 in the converter. Trans would not engage in any gear and after a minute in Neutral the engine stalled. I went online and found out I didn't have enough fluid in the trans to build pressure. I've since added 4 more quarts, for a total of 10 in the trans and 1 in the converter (11 overall )and still the same thing happens. When I shift from park into neutral the car feels like it's still in park. There is no engagement feel when going to R,N,1, 2 or 3. Could the trans still need more fluid and/or more time to build pressure? Do I have two issues here? I'm not sure how much fluid could be in the trans lines and trans cooler to add to the total needed amount.

Thanks in advance.

Hard to tell from here, gut reaction is the bands are too tight, but d/c the overdrive tail and see what happens, that will rule out/rule in the OD.

Essentially you only had 2 1/2 < 3 quarts in the trans. The converter will suck up < 2 quarts. You may have roasted the forward clutch. Drain it (smell it) into a clean (white ) pail and look for material and that famous burnt oil smell.
