Can I use this Pinion????

OK guys I received my gears from Motive Gear part # C887391E. The pinion in this kit is "straight" with 10 splines. The pinion (1 3/4) I pulled out of my center section is "tapered" with 10 splines. Did I get the wrong ring and pinion?

thanks

The only "489" case gears I could find on Motive's website had 29 splines? The 741/742 all are straight....
