Drive train vibration

I have a 1967 Dodge A100 Van. When I take off it has a small vibration until it gets going and then quits and starts again when it shifts to second and as the rpms go up it goes away and starts again when it shifts into third. It is worse when it is pulling in each gear. I can also feel it when I let off the accelerator but not as bad. I took it to a trany shop and they said it was not the torque converter, but somewhere in the drive line. Any ideas?

U-joints. my dad always said check the easiest and cheapest things first.

Yes check easy first, have a look at the trans mount too.

It does not do it in neutral, either standing still or rolling. When it is neutral everything feels normal.

Tranny mount looks good, however, these transmissions "hang" instead of sitting so I can't do much to check it without removing it. The rubber in the "eye" looks solid and intact but that's about all I can tell from just looking at it.

The Ujoints seem tight, no slop.

U joints don't necessarily have to have slop If one of the U joint bearings freezes up. Also check the differential pinion nut make sure it is tight. Take it out to check joint movement

The vibration is gone....... The drive shaft had been installed with the u-joints out of phase. I took it loose, rotated it one spline, put it back together and "bam" the vibration is gone, gone, gone.
Thanks for your input, it really pays to look for the simple things first, not to mention the cheapest things..

Are you talking about the fitment in the trans or do you have a two piece drive shaft
