Easy torqueflight 727 question
Hey all,
I have a pretty easy question for anyone who knows some basics about these transmissions. I’ve been doing a lot of work on my 1977 dodge RV… yesterday dropped the transmission pan to replace fluid and filter. While I was down there, I discovered it appears to have a minor leak. I’ve tried finding a diagram, but all I can find is interior parts diagrams. I’ve tried attaching a picture but it won’t let me. Click this link, it’s the large circle blue cap. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/TCI-111005-727-Super-StreetFighter-Trans,333314.html?sku=282111005&utm_medium=CSEGoog le&utm_source=CSE&utm_campaign=CSEGOOGLE&gclid=Cjw KCAjw092IBhAwEiwAxR1lRqopG9CwzfGTdgitPRyo6rgyDI3B9 gI9tGe7ZQfVzXsEK23gSB9xSxoCKJgQAvD_BwE thank you!!! |
If I’m not mistaken, it is either the speedometer cable or the parking brake cable that goes into this part. What would cause a leak, bad seal?

The link didnt come threw... But looking it up... If it is the large blue one on the tail housing? That would be the Speedometer Sleeve.... If it is the Smaller one up in the transmission case? That is going to be the Valve body Shift Selector shaft seals.
The big one is a lot easier to replace... |
Thanks for the reply! I was able to find another forum post on the issue… it is the speedometer cable, two seals that are easily replaced. Glad to find that out. |
Good Deal... Happy Cruising... :)
