Push button 727 transmission swap
I’m new on here figured I needed to ask some people who know their shit after searching the internet... so I have 1967 Chrysler Newport and the transmission went out. I found a 1963 727 transmission in good condition for pretty cheep. What my dumbass didn’t know is that 1966 and below, the transmissions are push button. Is there any way I can convert this push button transmission to hook up to my shifter on the steering column? Or did I just wast my money? Thanks

I believe that the valve body would need to be swapped for a pushbutton trans to work but you have a bigger problem. The tailshaft on the 63 should be a ball and trunoin, the 66 a slip yoke output shaft.
Sorry but you need to disassemble the trans completely to change the output shaft so you might as well rebuild the 66 box. |
