Torque converters

I have a '48 Plymouth that came w/ a 360 in it. The 360 has a nasty rap so I pulled it & have a 318 to go in, using the tranny from the the 360. Today when I went to change the torque converter I noticed that the slots in the hub of the 318 t.c. are about a 1/2" wider than the slots in the 360 t.c. I don't want to have the slop that this would cause. Why the difference? Should I just knock the weights off the 360 t.c. & use it w/ the 318?
Thanks.

Sounds like it uses a different pump ?? As there are several different types of converters (lockup, non lockup, overdrive 518, I would use the 360 converter with the weights removed

I agree with TV, curious about what bad rap you heard about the 360.

Thanks for the replies. I figured I'd be able to knock the weights off. The rap in the 360 sounds like a rod or a main bearing. Won't know for sure until I tear it down.
