79 volare roadrunner, when i press the peddle to the floor i hear an air rushing noise and you have to pull the peddle back as it wont return on its own. Before i go out and grab a master and brake booster is there a return spring on the peddle on these cars?

There are some plastic bushings for the linkage, but the booster may be bad

 

The rushing air sound is a clue that all is not right with your booster. Does it affect the engine rpm when you use the brakes?
Do NOT drive this car, untill you are absolutly sure it is safe.
