70 Challenger - voltage pulsing to 16 volts when revving!!

Hello! I joined this forum just to have my 70 Challenger run normal again... I recently upgraded to a 440 Blueprint motor with FAST fuel injection. Had a 78-amp Powermaster alrernator with external voltage relgulator. Car was running great, and pinned at 14 volts (have AutoMeter voltage gauge in car)...

One morning after driving the car the night before with no problems, I notice my tachometer not correlating to the RPMs of the motor. I then realize that my voltage gauge was right at 12, thus running right off the battery...

I changed the voltage regulaor, since alt is only 2 years old, and i had to jump start the cRar because the battery was down to 11 volts... I have MSD distribtor and MSD 6AL box...

The car started up, and I went for a drive, and it seems as though the battery was charging up. I then hit it, and all of a sudden my dashlights and headlights were pulsing like crazy. After reading through some of these forums that new voltage regulators does noy mean good I went through 7 regulators, with the same symptoms - starts up, gradually goes from 12 to 14 volts, then starts to pulse to 16 volts especially when revving it.

I then changed the alternator - same exact thing.

This is killing me - i know i shouldnt be throwing any more parts at it and I also did some of thr voltage drop tests i found in this forum particularly from 440roadrunner... And they cane out fine...

Can it be tbe battery? Any wires that could be causing this?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank You!!

I would check the bulkhead connections thru the firewall... OR re do / make your own wiring harness for the regulator circuit

Unhook the tach lead to your MSD box and check it again. If thats not the problem then get a fluke meter and unhook the autometer gauge. Something is causing a short causing the alternator to woky overtime thus causing the failure. It is going to be a process of elimitation on each circuit until you find the circuit with the problem.
