85 w150 no turn signals

OK so sense i have had this truck i have not had turn signals, the kid that owned it be for me said they worked if you switched the knob real fast??? well i did how every find a purple wire unhooked under the hood an i hooked it up an now i got hazard lights which i never did be for:hello:, i am leaning towards the switch in the column but want to know what you guys think??? the hazards run off the turn signal wire right?? so the kid might have been lien to me as this wire looks like it might have not been hooked up for a while... i did find a turn signal switch on ebay for $21 so the cost aint to bad but want to make sure its right hahahahah

As long as I can remember Mopar used two relays...one for the four corner hazards and one for the turn signals. Turn your hazards on and you should hear a realy clicking on and off. See if you hear another do the same when you switch the turn signal lever.

Get you a steering wheel puller or find you a guy that works on steering columns. A book really helps. You should be able to find you a new turn signal switch on eggbay or several other sources. I did one in my Dart. You have to remove the horn ring then a nut and use a steering wheel puller or in my case a harmonic balancer puller worked. Once the steering wheel is off you have to remove the lever for turn signal switch. Then a couple of screws hold it on place. You will have to disconnect the wiring also.

Hi there - just curious what book you got. I have a basic Haynes manual and it's not bad but could use some more info.

Thanks
