MAD Ammeter Bypass Process Question

Hey everyone. I am bypassing the ammeter as described in the MAD Online Article.

I have done a ton of forum reading about the process but I have a technical question that I want to confirm.

When splicing in the 16 gauge fusible link to the end of the bypass loop (just before the starter relay post) what is the best type of connection?

I had planned to complete what I believe is called a pigtail connection between the two 10 gauge wires and then solder the fusible link into that junction (with appropriate heat shrink and tape).

My only concern is the size of the wires. I wanted to double check that this is in fact the best way to make the connection before I do it.

Vehicle = 1975 Dodge W100. Engine = 360. Wiring Harness was pulled from a 1978 D150.

Thank you.
