Old to new or old looking

I had issue with a bouncing speedo, poor ilumination and poor placement of my existing gauges. The ones under the dash and above the console were not in plane sight and so were not being monitored very well due to poor placement. Having a couple extra sorry looking speedo heads from a 65 Fury, I decided a mod was in order. I used Autometer's American Muscle series gauges because they looked period correct and and were backlit LED's. After disassembling the speedo head, I cut one inch off the back using a thin cutter disk. The signal light boxes where the bulbs mount were left in tack for future use. Taking my que's from a 62/63 dash panel I set to work. It'll be nice to actually see the speedo and gauges during day and nite driving without too much distracted driving. Stay tuned....

check out using LED lights. it is easy to build a voltage controller to however many LEDS you need to drive. check out the LM317 volt controller. and maybe the 5 volts for the fuel tank, engine temp, gauge. and if it was mine i would convert to a volt meter and toss the AMP gauge. dont for get the AMP gauge can NEVER tell if the BATT volt is low.

Sounds Cool !!!!

I'd be interested in building a voltage regulator myself but where do you get the part that you mentioned. I did not use an amp gauge, rather a volt gauge. Thanks for your imput.

there is a couple of articals on some mopar sites. dont have them handy right now. all so check out some electronic sites its. they are not hard to built. if you dont want to build one. i could built it for you. they are very easy to build. ill do some hunting for you. the LM 317 is a voltage regulator that is adjustable. they have others that are set voltages. LM 7805 is set at 5 volt. this is a good time to learn electronics. LOL EDIT: if what you have is the one in the small metal box on back of the dash. send it to me and ill put the electronics in it. i just need to know the + post and - post. email me moe7404@gmail.com
