Where do I find a starter for my New Yorker?

I've looked on Ebay and Craigslist for a starter, but to no avail. I won't give up! I've tried to repair my starter, but there aren't parts available to fix it with! The car was starting with no problems, then all at once it stopped, the starter wouldn't turn, click or anything. We took it off the motor, bench tested it, it wouldn't do anything, so we tried using a meter to check ohms, continuity, etc. We discovered a broken wire, inside a relay or regulator or whatever the little silver box attached to the starter, the place where the battery cable attaches.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, unless you tell me to by something other than a MOPAR! That's what two of my motorheads here in the neighbor hood suggested! I told them "Never!", they're Chevy guys. I love their cars, they really fit their respective personalities, but I realized a few years ago, ever since I was a kid and saw my first Mopar muscle cars back in the late 70's and early 80's I've always been a Mopar guy! Mopar or No Car!

UPDATE! found a guy to rebuild or at least inspect to see if he can rebuild. He seems confident that he can fix it, but he said it's possible I could be looking at almost $200.00, and I can't afford that, so my next step is to check with my local Mopar club folks, who I should be seeing at a local car show in the next couple of weeks, so I'm still trying to fix and save at the same time, it's hard to do. Keep your fingers crossed! I'll update later!

Commando, it's a 1950 straight 8, 353(?)cubic inch, not exactly sure on the c.i.

Looks like a 324 c.i., I would say your best bet is to rebuild it. I looked it up on rockauto, they have a starter drive, bushing and brushes, if you buy all their parts your not looking at more than $50, but from what you were saying that sounds like the solenoid.

Did you re-solder the wire?
