Hi all,
First post on the forum. I have recently purchased a 68 fury III and am about to begin some restoration work. first thing I want to fix is the trunk. when I got the car, for some reason, the two tension bars in the trunk had been removed and were just sitting on the floor, so the trunk takes a lot of force to open and will not hold. there does not appear to be any parts missing so I am unsure why these would have been removed in the first place?

anyway I am unsure how these are supposed to be installed/work correctly. could someone please offer some advice and maybe some pictures of how they should be installed/work?

My '68 is covered at the moment, but maybe try a google image search for '1968 fury trunk torsion bars' or similar.
