Alternative Emblem Fasteners
So, what are folks using alternative to the stock speed nuts (what Year One stocks as "emblem nuts") for affixing their logo and fender badges? I just pulled the "DODGE" hood letters off my '66 Charger and the nuts were so glommed over with crud, by the time I had them off they were all chewed up. Like so many mass-production aspects of post-war Detroit iron, these speed nuts were clearly intended to be a cheap and fast way of slapping on trim on an assembly line. But my sled is no longer a fungible commodity, destined for the crusher, and it's worth it to built the thing back up so that it will last.
--Year One has perfect OEM nuts, with the washers and everything, but they're two bucks a nut! Besides, those stock nuts are so cheap I don't trust them to keep the emblems from falling off. --I'm not doing a Monterey Concours restoration job, I just want to be able to remove and re-mount the various emblems so that they won't fall off. --If there were a cheaper source of speed nuts that fit the mounting posts, I could use Loctite to keep them from falling off, but there must be a better way. Any ideas? |
These guy's are good enough.... :)
