Universal dash panel

Hi there,

I have a question to the universal dash panels out there. I have a '72 Coronet that has a completely dead dashboard, and getting a working replacement seems to be quite difficult. The other day i came across these dash panels that you can fit new modern gauges in, like the panels you see here:

https://www.classicindustries.com/sh...nts/?&p=1&sb=2

Does anyone have any experience with these?

regards. Willem

Yup, very good stuff and great service.
You will be doing a bit of rewiring though, and the new harnesses are included.

They are not universal, but designed for specific models.

Hardest part is deciding on which gauges you want ;)

Hi Archer,

thanks for the reply :)
Actually, i wasnt looking to buy the entire thing (it's way out of my budget :D)
Was planning to get only the panel without gauges and put something together with a few gauges i already have lying around... shouldnt be so hard right?

Shouldn't be a problem, if you're comfortable with the gauge rewiring/plumbing. Not sure which dash you have, but they have a fascia panel for the passenger side. I think it's included with the main dash, but check.

The cut-outs are 3 3/8" and 2 1/4".
You will need to drill holes and the wiring for the hi-beams and turn signals.

My isn't installed yet, but here's is a mock-up.

That's weird.
Did you get that pannel from classic?
I've just recently started looking at classic gauges.got my catalog few months ago.
Didn't see any pannels for mopar anything....mostly chevy, ford stuff.
Im working on a pannel for my 5th. Ave. I suppose i can send it to their ICU.
The gauges are very nice. And very pricy. The hardest part is choosing What style.?

Classic Dash has a number of Mopar panels. Check their website. Not sure about a 5th Ave, though.
Yes, choosing the look of the actual gauges was the hardest part, I wound up dealing with AutoMeter (great people) directly and had custom ones made. Wanna talk about pricey?

However, the openings are std 3 3/8" and 2 1/4", so you can get Thunder Road or Sun gauges which are less expensive. Their wiring harnesses helps, but if you're good with wiring, you should be able to fabricate your own.

You could also try a JEGS LED universal (digital) panel but it wouldn't look as nice.

Ive been to the web sight ordered a catalog
I suppose i could send my pannel to there ICU. And have the gauges custom.
But pricey is right!
Of corse ive still not sure what configuration, singles duals or a combo.....im looking for a balace and locations most likley a new pannel most of the factory locations are covered by the steering wheel.
I like the all American and the silver series the red and orange pool cue pointers
Led indicator lighting up grades are cool but the halo are really nice.
Just so much to choose from.
