I am with the Newtown, CT Lions Club who traditionally auction off a vintage (65-68) Mustang to generate income for us to then donate to suitable charities. This year's Mustang is a 1968, 289, automatic in which we are only the third owner, the last one having kept the car for 20 years. We move the car every week to different events to sell raffle tickets and this puts a strain on everything, including the rear windows, which get wound up and down at every event. If there is a little too much torque on the window crank, it causes the actuator to pull out of its bushing and then the window sits on the bottom. After the third repair of this assembly, which is rather involved, I decided to replace the wire hairpin that locks the bushing in place with an E clip of the same dimension. The stiffer tool steel of the E clip has kept the bushing in place now for over a month and multiple events! It isn't a tight fit but all you need is for it to stay in place and keep the pin from pulling out of the bushing, which it does.
