1970 Dodge Charger R/T SE 440 Auto Numbers Match
FOR SALE: 1970 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Auto XS29U0G17XXXX
Original Motor/Trans/Rearend. Numbers matching including casting and VIN on block, trans, rad support. Door tag Date 12-69. Good Title. Fender tag has been FOUND. Searching for known build sheet. Block 2536430-5 Date 11 17 69, Rearend 2881489 date 319 (11 15 1969) 3.23 gear. This is an Oklahoma car in great condition for any Dodge Charger enthusiasts. Previous owner bought 20 years ago with approximately 75000 miles then had the 440 rebuilt in 2015 to drive and enjoy. Engine rebuild also got a few bolt-on (Carburetor, Intake, Ignition, Exhaust) performance parts when a local shop rebuilt long block. Shortly after engine rebuild car was put on hold for some health issues then owner passed. Fast forward to now. Motor runs great shifts and drives but looses oil pressure after some driving. Some original parts (Carter Carburetor 4738S Dec 69, Intake 2951736-1, Exhaust Manifold 289987S, Alternator 3438172 Date 35 70, Dual Air Cleaner, Valve Covers. Interior parts), some small misc parts are with the car. Some misc gaskets, associated with the bolt-on performance stuff. New dash pad in a box. All glass good. Looks to be original paint except the engine compartment was painted when motor was out for long block rebuild. The trunk pan has rust through and some places in right/rear quarter. The roof has a couple pin holes. The front and rear floors including frame, body/shock cross supports, are solid. Has power steering leak, No coolant recovery tank, No windshield washer tank, Aftermarket oil/temp gauge work. so crazy what's happened lol. when i was in my 20s this would be a 2,500 dollar car all day long, big block or not lol. crusher programs and time haven't done that any favors. glws! :)

Last years' post. OK. Unless you can do it all yourself, I'm looking at another $40K (maybe $60K if done right) to get it into "decent" shape. I know people buy cars in this condition all the time and turn them into dream cars, I just don't see it. For me, it would be a donor car, if there was anything I needed (that was usable). Just an opinion, which may or may not reflect reality. Archer |
That car needs floor panels possibly frame rails, full quarter panels, a roof panel to do this accurately repairs should be done on a frame jig with the body completely stripped of all components and paint and rust.
My experience is depending on the amount of hidden rust damage getting this body repaired and back in color with a new top along with painting all the components, suspension etc your in the 100k range… If you can spend a few years doing the work yourself good for you but it’s a big project, your going to have bigg money in both parts and materials. I fixed this junk for over forty years the only thing I by is as close to rust free as possible! this charger is a POS |

exactly. deals can still be found, but normally, ya gotta know someone or be in the right place at the right time haha.

My top dollar $500 bucks..... A little bit if bondo will fix it rite up, OR a lot of bondo and sculpture it !!!! I'd rag it together and drive the snot out of it... War Dawg I say...
