What do you think it would cost to rebuild. The engine?

If you do it all, whatever a rebuild kit costs, probably around $500. The more an engine shop does for you, the more the price will be.

I got a quote here in cali for 4gs that's if I do no work myself, I've never rebuilt any kind of car engine only a dirtbike engine, do you think having no experience I can still do it?

As of right now I have tons of blowby, white smoke accompanied with oil comming out of the exauhst, I have the compression test results ill post when I get home so you can let me know what you think

I think you could do it. If you get into trouble we are all here to help you. You will need a good machine shop to help you with the machine work you will need. all totaled you will have somewhere about 1500 to 2000 inthe overhaul if you do the assembly of the engine

Is there any kind of cheap temporary fix to the problems I'm having??

pro-tech 03-05-2013 02:24 PM

Did the car sit for a long time? You could try changing the oil with high zinc added and adding marvel mystery oil to free up the rings. Then I would change the oil again in 1000-1500 and do the same thing use a 10w40 0r 20w50 as the MMO will thin it out a bit but it works great to free up rings and lifters and also cleans the internal engine parts.

Reduced price to 1000

Slant 6 is very easy to remove I would check with Waynes engine in Riverside area
http://www.waynesengines.com/
They could build you a long block

A complete rebuilt assembled long block will probably cost $1500
