1970 340 duster steering components
Hey, I am in the process of gathering parts for my restoration of a 70' 340 duster. I bought it as a shell. No interior no motor. Has the rear end, that's about it. So I'm gathering parts here and there. I bought two power steering columns off the Internet and a power steering gear box. But the column is too short. I don't know if I have the wrong column or wrong box?.. Does anyone know the full length of a power steering?
Any info is much appreciated thanks |
how longs the steering column you have
Full length of the column is about 36'' from end to where it bolts down to the frame, is about 9''.
You must have a manual box from what I can figure..
And for some reason, it looks like youre missing something? The doogun on the end of the rod should be further out then that. I'll go check a column i have
if needed i can take a pic of the gear box too......if you can maybe send me pics of yours, i can give my email,,,thanks
Send me a PM with your email and I'll take a pic of my column and try to get you all the info you need.
My car was actually a power steering car, and I have a manual box in it. There are adapters you can buy, or you can change the rod in the column over. |
The swivel on the end of that shaft should slide down about an inch or more from where it is.
Swivel is all the way out, I need about 11'' or so and it only goes to estmiate about 9''....
also its suppose to be a floor shift column, but it has that lever switch to me looks like a automatic column, but the guy I bought it from said it has something to do with the trans, it attaches to the trans for something...... |
