The weak spot on a mopar trans is the reverse band. Easy check, drop the pan. If there is a bunch of crap in there, your reverse band is broken and the trans has to come out. If not, there is an easier issue like an adjustment. If the trans hasn't been serviced in a while (and most of us never do it) it would be a good idea to drop the pan and change the filter and fluid anyway.
