1976 Duster With 318
Hi,
I am new to the forumn. I had a 74 Duster when I was young and am looking to get one to restore. I am looking at buying a 1976 duster with a 318 with a 727 transmission, but would like to convert it to a 1972 MOPAR 340. My question is would the 340 fit easily into the 76 duster as engine mounts would be the same without modification or would I have to change mounts? Also, would I have to find another transmission and rearend or could I use the ones that come with the 76.
As I am new to the forumn, I am also new to car restorations. I have rebuilt engines, tranies, and rearend, but have never done a complete restoration, so I am sure I need to learn a lot to complete this restoration. Thanks in advance.

It's a straight swap. IF your budget allows ? Just put a stroker kit in your 318. AS good 340 motors are getting expensive & hard to find. You already have the 727 so no upgrade is needed. IF the 727 is original my guess would be that you have an 8 1/4 rear end which would be fine for a HP street car..
