67 Barracuda Instument Cluster issue

I have a 67 Barracuda and the Gas Gauge, Oil Gauge and Temp Gauge are not working. I am getting 12V of power to the hot lead of the Gas Gauge, and the Oil and Temp posts on the back of the panel are also getting 12V. I was thinking the problem with the voltage limiter (which appears to be built into the gas gauge). We are not getting the drop in voltage (5V) to the Oil and Temp gauges. The other problem is we are NOT seeing the gauges max out to the right (e.g. 12V). My electrician is saying he doesn't think its the voltage limiter/regulator because he would expect to see the gauges max to the right. And ideas on what the problem could be? Is it still possible that the problem is the voltage regulator? (if so, not sure how you would bypass the built in regulator since it looks like 12V are still being sent to the other gauges.) Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Bob, I need an electrical degree to understand that article (haha). Does it sound like the problem is my voltage regulator in the first place since my gauges are not pulling to the right when the power is on (12V going to the gauges)? Also, if the problem is the voltage regulator, can't I just buy one off the shelf (they seem to have the voltage regulators for the case where they are separate from the gas gauge) and connect it into the instrument cluster? (instead of trying to build one myself which I would never be able to do)?

Yes you could.. I think that is your problem.. Also, if your in for a little more reading before you get started. Check out a few of the write ups over @ ForABodysOnly.. You can just search it and it should come up, they have a good photos of a few later displays....

Good luck.. Keep us posted on how it turns out.
