'67 Cuda convertible front frame swap?

Hi all,

The front frame of my Cuda is rotted. I'm about to try and remove the bad and replace with a solid/new. I'm told, other than removing all the front clip (fenders, hood, grille etc) - and I assume the engine/tranny - that I need to drill out the welds holding the frame to the body... Does anybody have a DIY or anything they can point me to? I haven't found anything during my web searches so far.

Thank you,

Jay

Your asking for a key to Pandora's Box, its not a job for the novice.
I looked for a few minutes and came up with this.http://www.fastbackstack.com/unibody-panel-replacement/
depending on how much rust repair you have I would recommend finding someone with experience in unibody and frame repair. This comes from a retired bodyman.

I read my post again and I'm not trying to discourage you but not only are you replacing parts but you need to be as precise as possible when welding together. Everything must be square and true so you need to undestand how that works. These are learnd skills and if you can weld with a mig welder and are willing to learn have at it. Just learn as you go.
I searched, replacing uibody structural panels.

THANK YOU!

Great info - and I believe I understand the enormity of what I’m going to undertake. I did a frame off resto of my ‘65 Buick Riviera GS, though no welding was involved. I have all the time in the world, and the car was essentially free to me, so I’m excited to take it on. And I’m not looking for a show car coming out the other end - just a solid vehicle to buzz around town. Thank you.

Best source for frame / body (floor pans, rockers)?

When I searched online for quarter panel or floor pan parts I found a few sources that looked pretty attractive; (seemed like good fabrication and cost). But I wouldn’t know if they were “good” or not. Do you guys know a source that you feel is best or has a good reputation for fitment etc? Eastwood, Auto Metal Direct???

Thanks again.
