73 VALIANT BOGGING AROUND TURN

Hi new hear my name is brad and im a junior in highschool.

I have a 1973 plymouth valiant with a 225 slant six with a one barrel holley carb.

The car runs great when im cruising or throttling it hard until i go around a turn and throttle it, it boggs or tries to stall.

This also did this with a full tank of gas so i dont think it was fuel level.
Also the fuel pump is new, fuel filter, carb, and vacumme is routed correctly i believe.

Any ideas guys or gals?

I assume you have power steering, as I see this when I turn the wheel all the way to one side.

What you should do is check your fluid level in the power steering and possibly change it out.

does it act worse turning into a curve either way?

ya i do and fluid is good. How would power steering cause my engine to bogg down while doing a turn?? Even a u turn if i throttle it to get my tires spinnin a little it just boggs. It doesnt do this if i take off straight.

doesnt matter which way i turn if im turning one way and im throttling it, it boggs down until im straight again. Easy turn not soo much just sharp turns.

I am not sure, I just know it happens, I assume that there is more resistance in the power steering causing the belt to spin slower and in turn bogging down the engine. Same thing happens in my 98 truck if I turn the wheel all the way.

I never knew why, but I had a 1974 Duster that stalled every time I made a left turn unless I accelerated at the same time.

Turning right wasn't a problem at all.

well, i'm new to all this, but I had a left turn stalling problem with a carb. v6. It was caused by the float in the carb being bent at the wrong level. the float is inexpensive to replace and if you get the specs, you can verify its level with a skinny ruler or square.
