confused on this fender tag code

So I was looking at another #s matching Demon 340 on ebay. just dreaming really because my dad still says no mopar till I move out. I decoded the fender tag, and I found a confusing code that I was wondering if anyone could explain for me. The code is in the 2nd line from the top and is the 4th code. It is code A83. The reference website I am using says this means the car was built as a new york taxi. why the heck would a demon 340 with a 4 speed, built at the california plant for that matter, have a code for new york taxi? I'm pretty sure I got the code right and everything, I can't get the pic of the tag to show up, sorry. not like its a big deal, but can anyone help me with this?
