I messed up, need some advise
Today I cleaned up my engine bay, cleaned with purple stuff cleaner and used a low pressure setting on the pressure washer to rinse everything down. Now of course the car will not start. Slant 6 in my 72 Scamp. I cleaned the distributor cap, it's dry. There is one white wire with a female spade connector on it, from the harness that runs along the valve cover on the passenger side. That wire is loose and I can not locate where it should connect. Could this be my problem? Any help would be appreciated.

NOT SURE but the white wire may be the field wire for your altinator but that should not stop you from starting or runnig, just charging the battery

If you got the ECU wet, and water on and around the heat sink, it may not work until dried out.
Have you checked for fire right at the coil wire? |
I don't see a place to plug the wire into the alternator, but I will check again.
It is getting some fire, because it will sputter like it's trying to start, I'm sure I got the ECU and heat sink wet, that may be the problem. |
WD40 displaces water spray the cap and wires with it. Check inside the cap for moisture use compressed air and blow out any moisture. Also that white wire is for an electric choke which your car might not have. You can also use the WD40 insidethe cap sparingly. It works great.

if the cap has a vent hole. PLUG it with JB-weld
