I need help with my trans 904

I am replacing the shift linkage seal on my 73 dart swinger, which has the 3 speed 904 auto, how do I correctly press the seal in the transmission ? Do I have to lower the trani or is there a press to apply pressure evenly to not mangle the seal?

You can get tools like this:http://www.amprotools.net/product_li...id=5&mode=show

But you still have to drive it in, manual says 15/16" socket. I think there is some tool that pulls it in with the pan off. Lowering the trans a bit is not a big deal if you loosen the motor mounts so as not to rip the rubber.

BUY an extra seal. You will have to lower the trans to gain clearance / Working room. Getting the correct tool is a good idea !!Makes the job much easier esp when working under the car !!!
