Information
I just picked up on Tuesday a 1966 Dart with a 273 Commando. I've had an old Chevy pickup for awhile and don't know too much about my own car. How embarrassing! I was hoping the collective knowledge of this forum could possible help me out alittle.
Thank you very much!

Is it just a Dart or a Dart GT? The 273 High Performance engine had a Higher compression ratio (10.5 to 1) a different cam ,4 barrel carb and larger exhaust. A total of 29,800 dart 170s were built in 1966. 28,400 were sixes and 1,400 were V-8. A total of 35,100 Dart 270's were built. 28,500 were sixes and 6,600 were V-8's.18,700 Dart Gt's were built.8,700 were sixes and 10,000 were V-8's

the commando is just a name that mopar gave its engines
ex. 383 was the commando also, and the 440 was the super commando (kind of like a suped up 383)
273 is a high reving motor
decently powerful

Yes. i do have the valve covers that i've seen to be labeled as the 273 commando set
and anyone who has a 66 dart might be able to help. the guy i bought it from said he couldn't fit headers in; is this something that's not possible? or could the headers he was trying to put in not have been the correct ones?
