My 1966 Dart 270 Convertible (Restoration)

Hi there

This weekend, I finally manage to get the dart on the hydraulic ramp and inspected all the bushings and identified what needs to be replaced/repaired.

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/P1010022.jpg

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/P1010019.jpg

Very "weird" HotBits exhaust on the car rite now, which needs to go...
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/P1010018.jpg

Fuel tank is out for cleaning, and found out the float is broken, no wonder indicator not working
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/P1010014.jpg

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/P1010009.jpg

The motor needs a good clean and mountings are badly cracked/hoses need replacement
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/P1010011.jpg

Bushings set has been ordered from Australia. Apparently the Valiants bushings are identical and I save a lot of shipping cost...

Will update you guys as the project goes on...

Cheers and thanks for all the help.

It looked like it came off the factory in '66! What the... ! :)

I dont know maybe im wrong, but the filter looked at least 20 years old to me... meaning all this while they never serviced the engine! Arrggghhh...

awsome work there , are you going to leave the slant in there :) would be nice and as the oil filter them slants could go for miles without any oil in them so the dirt and grim just made the engine laugh :) they run forever
i tried to blow one up years ago when i was making a duster into a oval and was changing the motor so i took it around the track we had in the field and never could blow it up and we drained all the oil right out of her but guess the slick 50 did its job as what they said it could do lol
keep us updated and so far its looking like your on the right track :)

1966sportfury Sep 15, 2010 12:05 PM

i like what what you are doin great work! but you got a single bail master cylinder, why didnt you buy a duel bail? i first hand know how bad single bails are, i would be driving and go to hit the brakes and nothing, i was doing 60mph at one time coming up to the highway, luckily there was a feild to the right of the rd i was on that i turned into to let the car circle to a stop, if it wasnt for that feild i probly wouldnt be here now, down shifting the auto and hitting the e brake didnt slow the car down much either, so i changed to a duel bail, and encourge others to do so too. just my thoughts,

67 GTX Sep 15, 2010 05:56 PM

are you replacing the gas tank too?

Took the gas tank out and cut the top a little, about 4" square so that i can clean the inside with chemical etc. then weld it back up (with water inside the tank of coz!). Now the inside is clean like new :)

But this one gotta be a record though, 3x Oil filters = 3x US$5 = US$15, and shipping is US$43.45 :P
