power steering belt adjuster

Today when i was installing my flex fan i saw the belt adjuster to slack up the belt a little but the bolt the goes to the plate goes into the water pump and when i loosend the bolt it started to drip coolant from the pump so i tightend it back up tight and it stooped dripping and was able to fit the belt back on the pulley with the new fan on without loosening the belt but do they normaly drip coolant from loosening the bolt up for the adjuster plate?

thanks for the quick reply man! so it is a normal thing for the waterpump to drip while loosening for a belt change? it does have the 318 i should have mentioned that earlier.

i miss read somehow i was thinking the alt brackets them self that go on the timing chain cover. well there shouldn't be a bolt to adjust the alt that goes that deep into the engine. usually its just 2 bolts. the one that goes through the alt and the one to adjust the alt that's under the pulley area.

yes you are okay all mine have leaked from there also. sorry for being so absent minded today.
it is a normal thing, just the nature of it because you have the cooling passages right there to the water pump. as long as it don't leak with the bolts torqued your good to go.
