Some pictures of my latest project

I have been lurking in the shadows here for a while. I thought I would post a picture of the latest project here at my garage. It is a Superstock tribute car. It has most of the 68 superstock trimmings, wheel openings correct, A100 Van seats and lightweight mounts, correct looking hood scoop, back seat delete....

There is a lot more. I will post more as progress continues. Great forums!

Love the '68's

67 GTX 10-10-2008 04:50 PM

what class are you looking to run in?

Crazy4Carz.Com 10-10-2008 06:22 PM

I have no idea. I'm just planning on running brackets so far. If there is a class that I can fit in that would be great, but I am building this car for fun and the way I want it, rather than try to fit a NHRA class. The SS/AA is only a tribute to the early superstockers, not the class I am trying to fit into.

This is being fitted with a HEMI but not the usual. I am building a 5.7 stroker motor. XV is providing the heads and cam, Calliies is where I am getting the stroker kit, and Edelbrock is the intake (2 four barrel intake) There will be a 200 shot, with a 100 plate under each carb. Frank Adkins (chrysler performance upgrades and other publications) built the Trans with all the best including a trans brake and reverse valve body. Out back will be a 83/4 with 4.10:1 gears. I am looking for about 600 on motor and 200 shot from the hole all the way out. Should be a fun ride. It will never make the track or any events this season, but come spring I will be ready.

Here is another pic. this one is from "downstairs":

Are you going to be running posi or a spool? what type of tires?

Crazy4Carz.Com 10-11-2008 08:47 PM

I liked the idea of a spool for all the wrong reasons (cheap) but for street use that is absolutely out. I will be going with a sure grip/ locker with 4.10 gears. The drag radials you can see in the pics are what I am planning to run.

I am located in Newark Delaware. I also do a local TV show Crazy4Carz.Com TV it can be seen on the website if you go to the home page and click the link for TV. It plays through Youtube. Anyone interested in an Oil change day? I hosted this for the Dodge Viper Club at my garage and also for the Corvette Club (when I owned a Vette)

Finished the interior this weekend. Drivers side door bar opens, the passender side bar is fixed. (wife has to climb over) The final parts for the engine should be showing up this week so off to the machine shop and in a couple weeks the engine should be ready to go in.

Here is an interior pic.

Why stay with 13"? Small bolt circle 14"s will fit no problem. Much better look.

challenger 12-06-2008 11:51 PM

agree on the 14s but he is looking to stay with the 13  still your dart is looking awsome , are we going to see it in a pinks episode at least maybe you could be the one to get a dodge in victory lane and win the 10 g's hehehehe o ya and a tool box :D

Crazy4Carz.Com 12-07-2008 05:05 AM

The only thing holding me up is getting my heads back from XV motorsports. They have been jerking me around for over two months.

The car will be on next seasons Pinks all out and 1320X. Two shows on Speed next season.

67 GTX 12-07-2008 07:35 AM

what kind of heads are you putting on it?

Crazy4Carz.Com 12-11-2008 06:47 PM

If they ever get here they should be a "stock" casting CNC machined, over size valves, 5 angle comp valve job, Springs, retainers, the works.

Crazy4Carz.Com 01-05-2009 04:53 AM

A few changes have taken place on Crazy4Carz.Com "Project Dart". So I thought I would post some pic's and bring everyone up to speed.

I have been delayed on the motor for reasons beyond my control, so I decided to make a few changes while I was waiting. From my best guess, I wasn't sure the tire size I was working with would hook, and the look wasn't what I wanted it to be so........I made a few changes.

I decided a 33 X 10.5/15 would be an acceptable tire size (huge). First the rear springs had to be relocated inward and back about 1" to center the axle in the wheel well, that was relatively easy by notching the frame and boxing it out to make a new mount and still keep the ride height.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...relocated2.jpg

With the tire being centered, the inner wheel well was not co-operating.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...s/tightfit.jpg

So I brought out the BFH and tweeked it just like the guys did at the Hurst Co. when they built the super stockers for Dodge. Note the shiny metal exposed after the hammer knocked off the undercoating, this car is stupid clean and rust free.

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...ingwhammer.jpg

MUCH BETTER!!! SWEEEEEEET!!!

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...eclearance.jpg

Still a bunch of work to do, but I think it is progressing nicely.

HOLY $H!T!!! that looks b@d@$$!!!!

Commando 01-05-2009 07:57 AM

That looks awesome! I think that looks kind of close though, avoid bumps, unless your shocks are super tight.

66 Fury III 01-05-2009 10:22 AM

Sweet!

Superstock springs out back, 60/40 drag shocks, and there is more room than what it looks like.:D

67 GTX 01-05-2009 01:08 PM

that is one mean car:D

Crazy4Carz.Com 01-05-2009 01:34 PM

I'm glad you like it. Here is what it started life as (when I got it):

This is how far it came apart (plus some cutting) this was this summer:
