Chrysler 6.3 engine distributor issue

I have a 1961 Face Vega fitted with a Chrysler 6.3 engine,
unfortunately the original distributor was sent for rebuild but has been
lost. I have now obtained a replacement distributor for a 6.3 engine but
it is approximately 3/8 inch short on the drive, I have spoken to a
mechanic who works on these engines and he thought that the 7.2
distributor was slightly longer which proved to be correct. Could you
confirm from my engine number, first line on engine TY7 second line on
engine 212 third line 63, whether I have a 6.3 engine or a 7.2 engine or
any other information which will help me to confirm the size of my engine.
The original distributor which was lost was fitted with twin contact set.

I also require a thermostat housing, could anyone identify the Mopar
part number or any other makers part number so that I can try to find one

I wanted to post this n the forum but couldn't see how to do it

Thanks for your help

Malcolm

It is possible that Chrysler used its RB 383 for your application instead of the B motor 383.
RB= raised block
In the year's 59 and 60 mopar had a shortage of B short block 383 and substituted RB short blocks, these had a smaller bore but longer stroke than the B motor. Same block as a 413.
so yo may need a distributor for a RB motor, there will be a flat machinemachined pad to the Rt of the distributor at the edge of the valley pan above the water pump housing that the B motor will not have.
good luck I hope this helps.
