-- Welcome -- Cool project - not many of these around. -- I've had a few 60s Mopars - see my albums. - I'm not a engine builder or a body man, (just a Mopar guy) but possibly I can help here and there. -- Good luck with the project.

Iowan 10-19-2015 06:01 PM

Looks cool,
I've got a friend with a 62, it's a E/SA car and has run a legal 10.60. What are your plans for the car?

project62 10-21-2015 12:47 PM

fix all the rust, freshen up the 383 and maybe street/strip. and if the body work is good enough take it to some car shows. even if body work isn't that great, may still take it to car shows. white hides alot of flaws. i want to sell the 383 and put in a 440, but one of my sons wants to keep the motor. my cousin told me it's a numbers matching 383 for a 68 roadrunner.

Iowan 10-21-2015 04:57 PM

You could stay with the 383 but add a stoker kit. I like father son projects, how old are your boys?

project62 10-22-2015 12:33 PM

oldest is 19 in college for classic car restoration at Ohio Technical college in cleveland 2nd oldest is 18 senior in high school and thinking of going to OTC for high performance.

What type of material do you use when you media blast a car? I was told not too media blast because it will warp the panels. Also if you could help me out with something, the hood is completely unsalvagable and same with the trunk lid. Where can i find replacements? Having trouble finding them.

-- Check here for a hood -- www.sledcityevents.com -- then click on Fiberglass. -- A bit pricey, depending on the alternative. -- ALSO -- Here's a phone number in N.J. -- 732-268-2220. -- This is a 4 door parts car - not sure what parts are available. - Perhaps you've already checked this one.

Hood & Trunk Lid

If timing isn't a problem, then wait and go to "Spring Carlisle" in Carlisle, Pa. 4/20 thru 4/24/2016. -- And/Or -- "Chryslers At Carlisle" 7/15 thru 7/17/2016.. -- The July event is probably your best chance to find something. -- There's also a big events in Charlotte N.C. (Charlotte Auto Fair) 4/7 thru 4/10/2016, and "The Mopar Nationals" in Columbus 8/12 thru 8/14/16 -- You should find something at one of these events. -- Sound like you guys are in Ohio, if so then all of these places are reasonably within your reach.

After some extensive research. That big hole is suppose to be there. Just when you look at from that view it looks busted. After we took timing chain off, it's actually part of the casting. Must be channel for oil to lubricate timing chain.

I thought it was time for a 440!

project62 11-02-2015 03:33 AM

Going on a road trip with the boys on the 14th of this month down to Columbus Ohio. There's a 6th Annual Ohio Mopar Expo Swap Meet and Car Corral for Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge and related vehicles, Ohio Expo Center & State Fair, Rhodes Building, 717 E. 17th Ave., 43211, 9am-4pm, indoor swap and corral space available.
try our luck there.

project62 11-02-2015 12:24 PM

so this 383 i have was built 3 9 68 the block casting is 2468130 which tells me its a 383 b motor and was built at 1pm. what does the 10 stand for at the end of the casting number?
My cousin has informed me that its a numbers matching engine for a '68 roadrunner.
