72 318 small block timing
ok, I have a 87 dodge w100 with a 72 318.
Automatic. I got it with the motor took apart, still in the truck. Cam removed.
#1 cylinder isn't tdc, and distributor is removed. How do I go about fixing this. I have new cam 6900 from summit. Lifters and timing kit. I need help timing the cam
Sorry guys new to this

Welcome.
If you search You Tube you'll find tons on this subject. If it's a Chev that's ok because the same principles apply. I would suggest putting the cam and chain in without the heads, on a degree wheel and dial indicator with one solid lifter would be the best. You can do this with a homemade piston stop and timing tape on your harmonic balancer and be accurate enough for a small cam like this.
Just looked and found a bunch of Mopar 318/5.2 videos.
