valves???
 

the heads on my 72 413 are 2899943 heads. i want to put put bigger valves in it so i can get more air. i found 413 flat tops for it. i am ordering a .578 cam and a edelbrock performer intake. will i need bigger valves or can i get the same ones. i heard these heads dont have hardened seats in it either. is it true? Need help figuring these heads out. thanks guys.

I do not recommend using these heads for a performance engine, there no headers available for them.:naughty:

I'm not sure if a standard 4 barrel intake will fit the heads.

413 is a good engine... But careful what you are doing... I agree, dont try to go to allot of expense on these heads... If its for a nice cruiser... A good 3 angle valve job.. Clean up the ports. Port match and gasket match. Tighten up the Valve guides. a slight shave off the head surface... and you should be good to go..
If your changing the intake... Watch the cross section when you order the manifold.... 413-426-440 manifolds will fit most of the time. But the hemi and max wedge will not fit... So that why I say keep an eye on the cross-section of the manifold...

Bob , those are the truck heads, different bolt pattern on exhaust side not sure about intake side.

AUHHH..Thanks Tom.... I was thinking passenger car heads.. Yes those can be an issue.. And even more so if those are the large valve stemed truck head...

Look for heads with the last three#s 452, 906 or 915, the 915s are closed chambered and will give you the most compression. Try to keep the CR at 9.5 to 1 for pump gas, you can build 500 hp with the correct combination. :)

Ok. I'm gonna try to find 915 heads. What are 516 heads. Are they any good???. I'm still trying to figure out all the chrysler heads. Thanks guys

516 is similar to the 915 but not the same, it has smaller valves and the ports have differences also. The 915s have the same ports as the 906s and the 452s ports are improved under .550 lift over 915 and 906s.
