Transmission dipstick?
 

Howdy,

Newbie here. I recently picked up a 1972 D100 truck with a 318 combined with a 3 speed (A-230) manual transmission. After searching on the web for a long time for where the heck the transmission dipstick is located, I decided to turn to this forum for some help. I've looked high and low to no avail.

As a side note, I did find a broken spring on the bottom of the trans that may have been the return spring for the slave cylinder, but I can't find a schematic to this transmission in hopes of buying a replacement spring. Not sure if what I found is just missing the hook portion or if it's half the length of the original spring.

The manual transmission does not have a dip stick. The oil level is checked by removing a plug on the side of the transmission. the oil level should be at the bottom of the plug hole. I'm not sure what spring you are trying to identify. Strongly suggest you find a manual to guide you through. Your local library may have a Chilton or Motors Manual for reference.
