Warlock/Lil Red Tuff Wheel Adapter

Basic question - is the tuff wheel adapter for the '78 truck the exact same as for the earlier '70's vintage Mopar cars?

I have a ’78 Dodge D-150 2WD, non-tilt wheel with the Warlock trim built in February of ‘78. The truck came from the prior owner with a Grant steering wheel installed. I located an original Tuff Wheel but had to purchase an aftermarket spacer from Dale’s Cuda Shop. Both the spacer and the steering shaft have a master spline.

The problem is that the depth of the spline on the aftermarket spacer is more than the spline on my steering shaft so the spacer will not seat properly. From the top of my spline to the machined ridge on the shaft is about .600 whereas the length of the spline in the spacer is about .750 (all +/-, hard to get a precise reading on the digital caliper). As a result, the spacer rests about .150 too “high” on the shaft and the turn signal cam and horn switch won’t properly engage.

I’ve asked a number of folks and everybody that has offered an opinion says the spacer should be correct as the spacer was the “same” for the earlier ‘70’s Mopar cars and the ’78 truck. Assuming that is correct it would seem my steering shaft is incorrect but most everything else on the truck appears original so, while not impossible, the shaft/column could have been replaced.

Any input/advice would be appreciated. I’m trying to determine if the spacer is incorrect or if the shaft is incorrect. Ultimately, I want to install the tuff wheel.

A body cars had the same adaptor as the truck does for the Tuff wheel. B or C or E body adaptor won't work. I have 2 of these adaptors for trucks. One from a truck and one from A body. Very hard to find and cost me 100 bucks each. I'm using both now.good luck.
