What did I buy?

Hi Folks, yesterday I bought a 1980 Dodge pick up.....I am not sure what "size" I bought 1./2 ton or 3/4 ton......is it considered a "Ram" ....it says-- Custom 200--- with a Rams head underneath on the driver side panel.
Is this a 3/4 ton?.

Yes

Yes a D200 is a 3/4 ton but on a 38 year old truck I would not believe what an emblem says.
Your VIN number will tell you even the title might say.

How does the VIN # tell me Iowan? it starts D24jeas

There are many sites on the web to look, some only start with 81 Dodge Ram trucks.
try this one.

On the simple side, how many lugs does it have on the wheels. 5 = 1/2 ton

It does have 8 lugs and so I guess I have a big 3/4 ton truck

Oh, it is perfect and at least a truck....I have been truckless for over a year and I'm a guy that needs a truck. It is for sure a beater, and I do good at beating things up. .
It seems to run fine, good steering, brakes and tires....The speedometer has a broken needle and seems to be 10mph high. The dash lights don't
work, but turn, brake, running and low beam do work.....so I'm hoping she treats me well. .......Never had radio or ciggy lighter...glad I gave them up
Thanks again Iowan, I am sure I will come back for other questions, but for today I say --Happy Equinox, and yay for my 14'th wedding Anniversary---good evening
