Joe glad that you are doing well, and seem busy. Given up on the big block, am still working with mine. It is a 71 440- I had it cleaned and test all is good. I had it bored to .30 over now am doing the thought into parts to get. I want around 9.5 CR and 400 hp if possible. So far I am going to use TRW forge pistons with a Comp Cam- 21-223-4 which is good for a street engine. Once i get those then I will get the valve springs to match the heads, and then maybe can start to rebuild the end of April?? I will keep you posted, keep in touch and good luck with the shop and engine.

HI Joe, I haven't seen much of your build lately how goes the build? I got my 440 to the shop and was cleaned and tested- no leaks and all solid. I am having him bore the cylinders out then will start the puzzle of rebuilding. According to my machine shop, we will build base of the piston size to match for the cam and top end. I am looking for a 9.5:1 CR engine. Hope all is well I will keep you posted to what am doing, take care Joe

That sounds awesome Joe, I've been busy lately but I did find a body for my 440. It's a 72' Demon, the guy said it was a 71' but he's never had it on the road so I guess he was mistaken, I've never seen one before so I didn't know by looking at it until I started looking up pics of a 71' and noticed the grill was different than the one I bought. Then I remembered there was a sticker on the door and it said 72'. It's largely a box car. Interior is removed but complete. Needs rear quarters and front inner fenders. I have my work cut out now. I'll do the body first and that will give me time to research motor stuff. I 'll post pics when I get the car home this coming weekend. Keep me posted on your progress. Good luck with the other builder, sounds like the first one was dragging their feet.

Joe haven't heard from you in a while how goes the build? I dropped mine to a local machine shop and they are taking too long with cleaning part, so this weekend will go pick up and take it to another builder I know. I have been looking into alot with the build which type of CAM to put in, roller or flat lifters, different pistons, and possible valve job. I also have been thinking of the ATOMIC EFI from MSD- similar to FAST or Holleys version of EFI. I also have figure the rebuild plan, this is what I am looking at:
    1. Engine- want 375-400 hp
    2. Tranny- going with TKO 600- 5 speed from Hurst
    3. Driveline- beefing up my 8 3/4 with 3.55 gears limited slip.
    4. Put the engine driveline in and then work body.
    5. Interior- Black
    6. Paint- white

Sorry for the delay, most of the details are here: https://moparforums.com/forums/f10/cordoba-pics-1383/

Form a budget first and figure out your desired outcome, that will help tremendously.

Joe Thanks I was surprised to see the Challenger made nomination. The heads I have are 346 and it seems that the stealth will be about the price however I am looking at upgrading the current heads I have now. For the intake I was thinking of Edlebrock's RPM performer with a Holley 750. I have a Edlebrock 750 carb sitting around that I had on my Chevy 396 befor I went to a Holley. Why would you go with such a small carb- 650?? I am hoping to drop the engine off to the machine this weekend or next, then once he pressure test and bakes it clean I will see what route I will take with the rebuild parts. I like Comp cam's Extreme series something with the operating RPM 1000-5200, what about you? Have agood weekend Joe

Joe, hope all is well I haven't seen anything from you, well the great news on my end I finished the tear down and added several to the album. I had a blast with it and the book was real good, except for the rear main seal was 3/8" not 7/16". I borke the #1 piston- hard to get out the rest just fell out with no issues. I found a machine shop down the road from wher I live that will let me be apart of the who;e cleaning testing the enigne. I will take all parts to be pressure tested and baked cleaned, then the plans will go from there. He thinks I will probally need to bore the cylinders, which will mean more money. I will determine which heads to use, the ones with it or the 440 Stealth heads.
How goes your build anything from you machine shop? I will keep you posted.

Joe added more of the take down. There is a lot of sludge in the oli pan, and no windage tray like the book states. I tried to remove #1 piston and have broke the bottom of it. I will hit again Friday. Any suggestions??

As for what HP i had, not sure I bought the engine from a private seller, he has for the last 4 years so I don't have any ideal of what power. I am looking for 425-450- trying to do a budget build- use as many of the parts as I can, and replace Cam and possible heads. I seen some from 440 Source- their stealth heads for $100.00 a pair. The Challenger is a 73 and I want to clone the 70 challenger from " Vanishing Point" That means some changes to the body, but not sure at this point. I an hitting the engine first. I will keep you posted to what tomorrow brings. Take care- Joe
