No compression V8 Mopar after quick rev and shutdown. This problem has come up rarely, but it's worth noting. A sudden rev usually after flooding may pump up your hydraulic lifters and leave the valves slightly open causing all cylinders to be without compression or very little compression. Back off on the rocker shaft bolts and start the engine with valve covers off. Tighten the rocker arm bolts slowly as the lifters bleed down. You'll see it smooth out quickly. A rare occurrence but it happens. Good luck!!

    Oil-Zinc-Worn Cams-Break-in Oils
I was a Chrysler mechanic in the 70's and 80's. People have been experiencing worn camshafts, especially flat tappet engines. NO!! it is not from the lack of zinc. It's not from high performance valve springs being left intact during the useless initial 25 minute high rev break-in period. Here it goes, drum roll. Flat tappet engines are going bad due to inferior oil that lacks the proper wear capability. An engineer and oil blogger named 540RAT (look him up) disproved all the ritualistic bull about properly breaking an engine in. Look at some of the low performing oils on his blog that were recommended for break-in by some unknowing person. I just replaced the cam in my 383 Dart. I coated the cam with Quaker State Full Synthetic 5w30, primed it and drove off after setting the timing. Quaker had the highest wear value of all the oils tested. I'm putting on my bullet proof vest getting ready for the shots!!
