So I got back to work and put the adjustable rockers in (from 440 source) and put the valve covers on. Also found the piece that holds the throttle cable, could have forgotten it and had some issues.

Thanks, hopefully have the rest of the brackets and stuff bolted on by sometime tomorrow, if I don't get interrupted another dozen times.

Could someone tell me about the air conditioner, what controls it, I know of one wire that goes to it but that gets eliminated by the leanburn removal, I believe it still worked on the 400, but don;t know how.

Very few interruptions earlier, so I got the water pump alternator and power steering brackets put on. I think the slow part is now over, that is I have been media blasting and repainting a lot of the parts, as I don't think they were cleaned off before being painted last year. Also ran into a slight issue where the balancer pulley is real tight and can't get it on the balancer, but should have that fixed tomorrow, also would like to setup the wiring harness as well (tape it all together and make sure it all reaches what it needs to.

Not sure why the paint looks like that in the pics, looks much better in person, I double checked, looks bad.

I adjusted them at the right spots, and was told by a few people that with the hydraulic lifters get a half turn. Almost ran out of shims until I came across the little kit Edelbrock tossed in the head boxes, it's always the little things that make the big difference.

Also solved the nonexistent problem with my trans, so next time I get a chance I will swap the trans out and hopefully get the engine in.

I have more pictures here: http://s294.photobucket.com/albums/m...o/Mopar%20440/

But I try to spare you guys by only showing one or two angles rather then the four I try to take. I also realized some of those spots on the pics are finger prints, guess that's what happens with the engine clear coat I was using.

Was going to put the thinned down wire harness with the electronic setup together on Monday, but there were a lot of people in the store, so once again more interruptions. Which allows me to think about what I am doing, so I hope I don't mess anything else up.

So over the weekend I pulled the old trans assembled the new one and installed it, so I could swing the motor on Sunday. On Sunday I grabbed the flexplate and put it up against the stall converter and guess what, TCI sold me the wrong flexplate for their converter, I have the 10" one and need the 11 1/8" one.

So hopefully I will get it put in this weekend, and if I get the order for the plugs in early enough perhaps start it.

I am not sure if my camera does video, but I will probably take it to my brother's have him do a video for me. It should sound awesome with the headers, no cats, true dual exhaust, and the mufflers I think have lost the glass already.

That's what keeps me going with this project, waiting to see what it'll do, I just hope the 8 1/4 hold up with the highway gears in it. Before anyone says anything its on the list.

The issue with the heads so far is that the threads for the intake should have been heli-coiled, they reinforced the rocker shaft holdowns, but I stripped two holes on the driver's side when installing the intake. Also didn't realize I needed adjustable rocker arms until late in the build.

Since the holes weren't heli-coiled, at about 15 Ft/lbs the soft aluminum let go, the bolts just kept spinning.

I think in there now its 2.74 or whichever the stock highway is 2.71 maybe. I am not sure, as I haven't checked yet. Would like to run a 3.25 but its not in the budget yet.

So here's an important lesson I learned today, don't rely on the fact that because you think that it fit the same body style before that it will fit your body style. This is what happened, I tried to put the engine in today and the oil pan hit the K-member looked at the number, its a 933 supposed to go in a C-body not a B-body, the one I need is a 971. I happen to have one, but need to clean it up. Figured I would pass on the lesson.

So I have had a chance to work on it yesterday and today, bolted the engine and trans together, reinstalled the driveshaft, attached the stall converter, but the headers on and bolted the exhaust on. However I think the Edelbrock heads are a little wider then stock as the Driver's side header is touching the power steering and the starter. So hopefully I can straighten that issue out tomorrow and get a few other things done.

I really am until I run into these little snags, and I try to power through them, fix it real quick to get it done, but that only results with more skin off my hands.

Burned myself today, but that's the only bad thing. Got the header to clear everything, by heating it up and flattening the pipe. So from the 90 minutes it took yesterday to get the header and starter in, with the modifications it only took about 5. It was really bad yesterday.

I should be able to get it running after another weekend, the only big issues that could occur are the carb being too tall, the pulleys not lining up, but other then that I don't know what else to dread.
