Question Removing door panel?

Anyone have a photo of the backside of a B-Body door panel? (preferably RR if it makes a difference)

I need to remove mine in order to install a mirror and just want to get an idea where all the fasteners are before I break sumthin

No biggie, take the armrest and door handle off. Start pulling gently at the bottom until one retainer pops out. Then work your way around to the top. Get you hand as close as you can to each retainer when pulling and you won't rip anything. You will need to unscrew your lock button then lift the door panel up and off the door.

Pretty much what he said. Allen screw in window crank that points forward with window all the way up. I prefer to use a putty knife myself when pulling door panels.

So there's no retaining clip for the crank, just an Allen screw?

Also, I have a set of these that I use on all doors....

They usually work great, but it always helps to know exactly where all the clips are.

It's about as complicated as watching paint dry. Just slip your widget tool behind the panel and slide it along until it hits a clip. The 68-70 B-Bodies don't have clips at the top of the main door panel, it slips underneath the chrome strips and is clipped along the front, back and bottom. Been a long time since I had one off but I want to say it's something like 6-8 along the bottom and may be 4 along the edges.

Top two along each edge are not usually used. There is holes for them and you can put clips but originally they weren't.

If you think the door panel is fun try the windbarrier behind it That one slips into the groove cut in the door at the bottom with 1 in wide hockey tape over it.

Chrysler window cranks are easy because of the allen screw. Remove screw and pull off no clips.

I should warn you half the time the cardboard of the panel is warped or water damaged and or disintegrated. Upholstery shops usually redo them with a press board that is stiffer. Any material not glued to the board can be reglued with contact cement. The spray stuff just doesnt hold.

Yeah, this is actually what scares me the most about these old panels

Before pulling any door panels, I always do a search for photos showing where all the main clips are to avoid tearing it up

Either Sublime or Limelite

As far as I know, it's incorrect for the year

nope usually most door panels only had like 2 of those on the outer edge the rest were spring type clips. Those are better and do less damage to the panels.

OK, the driver's side didn't look as nice as the passenger side

A few missing clips and a chunk had separated, so I broke out the Gorilla tape and spread out the remaining clips evenly.
