Is there a way of telling if 67 R/T has the original engine in it? I have been told that the cars starting in 68 the engine serial number was part of the vin.
I know that you can tell the year the engine was made by the letter on top front of the 67 engine. Also was told that the only thing different about a 67 R/T 440 was a little hotter cam.

So far as I know, ONLY 67 HP 440s got "the good" heads, these were closed chamber, casting no. 915. That might be a clue along with the casting date on the engine.

all so the 67 440 heads had bigger ext valves than the 66 440. and the 67 440 AFB carb had a velocity valve above the secondary plates but under the discharge nozzle. i think thats the only year with that set up. a VERY good set up. the AVS came out i 68. try setting the float level at 5/16. stock is 7/32. the float drop setting is not needed. cause the float hits the floor of the fuel chamber be for it can do any harm. but the needle and seat might lock when setting out in the open.
