exhaust manifold hardware

I am having the rims soda balsted, and the exhaust manifolds sand blasted this weekend. The hardware for the exhaust manifolds is really rusty and I am concerned about torqueing those bolts. If all goes well I would like to replace the bolts. Can anyone recommend where I get new hardware and gaskets? Is it as simple as my local auto parts store or is this something that needs to be ordered on-line?

It depends on your local auto parts store, my buddy has tons of them in stock.

With the quantity he has in stock, I would be in shock if he didn't have your style, or couldn't get it.

Not sure if you want to drive down, but he's right off exit 69 on the GSP, in Waretown. Stores called The Parts Shack, number is 609-242-2420 or 609-242-2428 He's open till 7 during the week.

68 SAt,
Great find there. Good luck with it. I'm in northern NJ also about 15 mnutes from you. But anyway. Any good part stores should get the gaskets for you. The bolts are 3/8's if I can remmember. They range from 2 to 3 inches. I think the outer ones go into the water jacket and you should use sealer on the thread. Are there studs on the outer bolt holes?
Good luck

Thanks Mr. Magoo.

I'm looking forward to seeing a few of the guys this summer at local events. 67 GTX mentioned meeting up as well. Let's try to make that happen.

btw sending the exhaust manifolds to Jet Hot for a better finish. I'm trying to restore this car correct one time and jet hot came well recommended.

That's good, get them done right, I found out the place I got my headers done at wasn't cleaning them after media blasting, so there are hundreds of people complaining, as the paint is coming off in the high heat areas. So they sold their powder coat machine, so they had an excuse not to fix all the mess-ups.

leaking corbin clamped hoses

I replaced the gas tank, sending unit and all gas hoses, radiator (re-cored) and replaced all hoses (period correct). I changed the oil/filter, gas filter, antifreeze, thermostat, plugs and wires.

When I went to fill her with anti-freeze last night she started leaking at two of the hose clamp areas. I used corbin clamps but I think they were tight seals. Needless to say I did not try to start her.

I'm going back into the garage Thursday night. Any suggestions are helpful.

Shes a runnin.
Actually took her on the parkway with her 20 + year snow ply tires. She runs really well. NEXT...Tires, shocks, bleed the breaks, and pads, exhaust and I think she'll be great.
One issue: When I filled the tank with gas the gauge only read half full. Definitely a full tank. I filled her myself.. Any thoughts?

The sending unit is brand new...

well the brakes worked but I would not say they are great. She stopped just fine, but they need to be addressed. I couldn't resist...

Last time I took my car on the GSP, the next day at the same time (in a different vehicle) was the most amount of troopers I have seen in one stretch of roadway. I now ask myself, were they waiting for me?

However I would have been sure of my brakes before going on there.

NJ troopers are on a push to give more tix. Heard from a good source.

I did check the brakes and they work well, but they should and will be serviced.

I am really far north on the parkway (last exit) and there are two spots I have to be aware of. Believe me she did not go faster than 50 mph...

Yes the tank is new...

I noticed last weekend from exit 69 to 129 GSP and then up the turnpike at least 25 troopers and 10 were giving tickets. The next day they were in the reg spots and then in random spots, I have no idea how fast I was going the speedo only goes to 100.

Some updated pics. I have been scrubbing her pretty good the past few weeks, and she got new shoes. 225 70/14. I also scraped and re-painted the rims. I'm thinking of picking up a set of dog dishes at Carlisle next month..
