Thought you might be mate as you seem to have your head screwed on right. At the same time, I'm always trying to help out where I can and it simply wouldn't have been cricket not to mention re-tempering if you hadn't been aware of it.................
I see you got a 'tina strip car, very cool. Ive just sold my minty Mk4 estate road car.

In a way mate, I'm kinda glad you just sold your Cortina Wagon since this will prevent me from wanting to buy it myself -particularly since the last thing I need right now is another car. Plus I probably can't afford it..........................
PS Just put the Fury back on her wheels and cranked the front down 2 inches to be going on with...........................
Toodle Pip...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE PROPER WAY TO LOWER THE FRONT END OF A MOPAR IS DROP SPINDLES OTHER WISE YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR CASTER ANGLE OR PERCHES ADJUSTABLE UPPER CONTROL ARMS, AND HAVE A ROUGH RIDE, AND AS FOR THE REAR I WOULD ONLY GO WITH 2INCH BLOCK

I didn't know that drop spindles were available for my model. Are they?
I do realise that any change in suspension (including ride height) effects other values and settings and I certainly don't plan on doing anything which would seriously affect the ride or handling of my car. When I have finalised the ride height I will be checking and adjusting other variables as necessary. I don't really want a bucking bad handling car any more than the next guy.

Bagged cars are cool and offer great flexability if the roads in your location are a touch "unpredictable". Looing at my 68 Fury, I can't imagine there's a massive amount of fab work involved. Obviously, this depends on your point of view, the facilities you have available to you and your level of skill.
I build race cars from the ground up, so a little fab work on an existing chassis is no big deal for me. I wonder if your local racecar fab shop could undertake the necessary work for significantly less than the cost of some shiny new wheels.........????

I just finished the Plymouth and got it on the road (all legal-like) this week. I have posted a few pix on the members rides board if anyone's interested...............

WOW, cool thread! Years ago, I lowered my own '68 using the methods the OP was considering using. I dropped the front by simply turning the torsion screws, and I added 3" blocks to the back. Now, keep in mind I was 20 years old when I dropped the thing, but I still think it looked pretty good! I threw on some baby moons and let it ride .

Some nice looking Furys there. Real bad looking stance.
GreenRam, how does that drive?
It looks a LOT lower than my Fury and I was told that this was too much and that it wouldn't drive at all well (it does) ???
I took this pic the day it came out of my workshop before I fitted my 20's...........

It drives ok...kind of bouncy here and there. I think the bump stops are hitting the frame a little bit, but it's all good. If this was my daily driver, I probably would not have it as low. I love the way it looks though!!!

Praise De Lower'd
I just finished dropping the rear of my Fury this week. I have been driving it around stock height at rear and a lowered front. It looked like one of those old timey funny cars -especially with those big ol' 20's on.
While the actual drop is about the same as those of Greenram's and Skwerly's judging by the relationship between the hub centers and the rocker panels, my taller tires and wheels tend to lessen the effect somewhat.
Anyhoo..............here's a pic or two.
By the way, anyone know how to free off those pesky adjusting blocks on the torsion bars a little...???
Mine move with a lot of persuasion but they're gonna snap eventually -I just know it. I think that MoPar made the thread pitches slightly different (or maybe they deformed the threads) in order to prevent them backing out but I worry about breakage every time I touch them.

i think these c bodys need lowered to a point. they suffer from poor cornering at stock hieght. and i took mine to the limit way more than once. after i droped my 440 in it i only got to drive it maybe a totall of 150 miles =+( but they do jump better than a f body! do what u want its your car! only way to learn is do it

I have a set of American Racing 5 spokes that I almost used on the old bus but the chief designer (my beloved wife) liked the idea of those 20 inch 100 spokers.................and whats two grand when it comes to true love.....???????????

if only they had taken like 3 feet of that car it would have been such a cool muscle car instead of a boat of a classic car, I always though the furys looked alot like the rival GTO. I do love them C bodys though never getting enough attention

WOW that beast sure came a long way since you purchased! Nice work, man! Those big rims really give it a different look!
Did 14s or 15s come on it when you got it? I believe mine were 14s, which I always thought was weird. I think my moons are 14" rims, too. I could be wrong. Been a while lol.

wow this thread did take an insane coarse
i for one like the lowered look on alot of old school mopars and a few chevys too... low riders are ther own breed of mod
i like all walks of mods some more than others but i think as enthusiests we shouldnt sit here and attack eachothers tastes
yeah rainy im prollly lowering my fury to the lowest setting as well...
i need new leafs and shocks all the way around...
and if i can ever catch a pic of the old 4 door dart in my home town ill post it.... its on a solid front axle 4x4 frame and sits higher than alot of the lifted trucks around here
hows that for individual tastes

Yep.
This thread has gone all the way to the boonies and back again.
Good thread though isn't it?
Lowering almost always improves the look of a vehicle -particularly when combined with an appropriate set of wheels and tires.
I'm not sure if I'm down with the 'lowrider' label though, as this cunjures up images of 13 inch wheels, flake paint jobs and chrome back axles on juice suspension. Not all lowered cars are lowriders. I must stress though, I do like lowriders it's just I find that some auto enthusiasts use the term in a derogatory manner which isn't justified.
Hope you lower your Fury, McClouds, as I'm sure it'll look great. Maybe you'll post a picture or two when you're done.
Talking of pics, I'd like to see one of that 4x4 Dart -it sounds like a real bad boy.
