Wheel Cover Issues

My '65 Polara has had trouble with the front left wheel cover for quite some time. It rotates just a little bit while I'm driving, which causes it to make some clicking noises, but worse, it damages my valve stem. At one point it actually caused me to get a flat.
I figured the problem had to be either the wheel cover, or the wheel, or both. I replaced the wheel with my spare (same size), and it was better, but still bad, so now I replaced the wheel cover with a new one, and it is still bad...possibly better yet, but it still rotates some.
I'm out of ideas on how to fix this, does anybody know what else I can do? Thanks

These are original wheel covers. The new one that i bought is from hubcaps.com, original, just refurbished. The new wheel cover itself appears to be in great shape. One of the other wheel covers on my car was also from hubcaps.com and I am not having any problems with that one. I've tried switching wheel covers around and they all seem to be doing the same thing on that front left wheel. Maybe I have two bum wheels?

Can't you tweak the tabs on the inside for a tighter fit?

Yeah, a slight bend with a pair of plyers should make it fit tighter.

I had the same problem with the covers on my 68 Fury II. I once had two pop off while doing a burnout. Very embarassing. I tweaked the tabs out slightly and it has not been a problem since....but now I really need the tire iron to get them off.

Try bending them slightly and see if it helps. Better to do it twice and find the sweet spot. Too much and you'll regret it.
