Where to find Throttle Cable for 67 Plymouth
Hi guys
My throttle cable snapped last night. My car is on the street outside my place in San Francisco; unfortunately that means i get a ticket on wednesday unless i can move the car. So i rather urgently need a new throttle cable. Tried usual auto parts and they say they can't order. Anyone know of a place i can physically pick one up around the bay area? OR somewhere online that would overnight one?
Any help appreciated...
Thanks!
Rich

Well if you just need to move it, go to a bike shop and get a brake cable and "rig" it.
For that matter, just a short drive to move it, just about any wire you can find that's steel including guitar strings!!!!

be carfull sometimes what carb changes which cable you need. I.E. 2 bbl, 4 bbl. if the cable snapped at the throttle pedal you run the cable through the lever above the pedal and put a vice grip on the cable. but you wont be able to mash it hard. OR use some small weld wire and run it through the fire wall to the carb linkage. BUT it must return to idle easy. just to move the car. been there done that.

Yeah i though those guys would have it but they don't have the right one for my body style/year... I may try rigging it to move it but i don't like the idea of it sticking open while trying to manuever on my steep street!
I'll keep you updated... A friend just clued me in to a cool shop here who specialize in old iron so perhaps they can fabricate something proper for me.

Now now... i'm just trying to find a cable. I know its not the space shuttle but its the first time my throttle cable has broken and i haven't done it before... It'll take me 15 minutes to put it back together but i need the part in order to do so. And i'm not finding it at stores or online...
What i did just find are Lokar cables at Summit... perhaps i'll just do a cut to fit if i can overnight it.
Thanks

After going through a motorcycle clutch cable that was just a little too wide in diameter i ended up with a high quality bicycle cable that did the job beautifully. Used a crimp sleeve to and shortened to the length required (19.5" on a 67 Plymouth Fury in case you're wondering. I will likely order a lokar or something but this did the job nicely so i'm tempted to leave it.
Thanks for all the help!
