depending on what you want to spend, i know a great place to get a 426 hemi crate. it is www.mopartsracing.com. they have anything from 528 blocks to wedge engines and everything in between. and i was thinking of doing the r/t thing as well. what size tranny goes with a 426???

yeah, a 727 is what you will need, but if you are upgrading to a hemi there is a lot of other stuff you have to change as well. Make sure your rear end is at least the 8 3/4 or perferably the dana 60. you need a bigger radiator, new wiring harness, I dont know about the challenger, but the charger in 73 and 74 had different k members for the small block. If you have a 904 tranny you will need to get a shorter drive shaft I think. Depending on how much power you have, you may need to change torsion bars and I think that you have discs on the front, but if you dont you Should get it. I am in the process of replacing my 318 with a 440
