What engine mounts for '73 Challenger 318 to 440 swap?

From reading threads here and elsewhere I was certain I had this figured out... but now I am getting conflicting information.

My '73 318 Challenger is getting a 440 (actually a 512). I've read that there were different K-members for BB and SB in '70 and '71 (72?). However, I also heard that by '73 there was just one K-member for BB or SB, so all I need for the swap is BB engine mounts. Is this true? Do they bolt to the original holes that my 318 mounts were bolted to?

I went to the Schumacher site that everyone recommends (http://www.engine-swaps.com/), but their engine mounts just say " '70 to '74 E-body." Do I need special mounts if I have a '73?

Thanks in advance for any help!

tranny k frame is the same

Hi,

E bodies carried the same k frame 70-74..........You can swap big block to small block all day long...may even use same rubber mount..but if not..readily avail mounts for cheap...everywhere...of course you may need diff driveshaft but they are easy to find as well............easiest engine bay to work in.

Yeah, cudas are awsome for their ease of changeing to bigblocks, the 72-5 b-bodies suck, they went to the spool type mount then and you have to find the big block mounts , the parts stores only sell the rubber inserts, not the whole mount.

Mango -

Do a search on Schumacher motor mounts. They are pricey, but worth it, IMHO. I'm using the neoprene bushings in their mounts and the engine doesn't move.

Hey archer, I used a set of those for a guys car when they first came out w/ the polylocks, I had to modify the mounts like 4 times before I got them to fit right. Course i had headers to deal with and everything else while doing the modifying, I had to grind alot off the lower lip of the mount tab to get it to recess into the hole on the mount saddle on the drivers side, then had to take some off the inside lip to clear the steering gear. what a headace. ounce we got them in they workes great. Have they fixed them? Did you have any trouble getting the motor in?
