intermitent loss of sync between ckp and cmp after reaching operating temp with high ambient temp
the hotter it is outside the worse it is. sensors check out as ok
faulty ground???

You should have got a P1391 Code with a check engine light on?
How did you come up with the issue?

I was going to say the ring was loose, But if its only dong it when it hot? I would go with whats mentioned above...
